Home Before Dark (Deluxe Edition with DVD)

I absorbed every Neil Diamond album and song he recorded in the 60's and 70's. He seemed to lose his edge after that and I drifted away. I bought Home After Dark because of the advance reviews. On the first listen, I thought Neil sounded like a derivative of himself! I could hear glimpses of his great melodies on "Moods" and some of his playfulness of "Velvet Gloves and Spit". But I did not feel that this new album rose to either of those efforts. I listened again, and some things began to reveal themselves to me. I especially like the way he took the 3 note motif of "Don't Go There" and used it again in "Another Day That Time Forgot".
And I listened a few more times. You know how it is... Some tunes stick with you and play over in your head and some drift away. This album is like that. I can't say that I like every song, like I used to from the 70's, but I do like some of them, and Neil remains one of my lifelong favorites.

Gave this CD to my mom for Mother's Day. She and I have followed Neil Diamond's songs over the years. This CD is equal's his past hits.

Home Before Dark is even better than his previous 12 Songs...I didn't think that was possible.

There are few if any current day pop musicians who can match the musical ability of Neil Diamond. This CD is super!!! Melodies that have the unique blends and arrangements we would expect from ND, with lyrics that have meaning, yet are clever. You'll find these songs still playing in your head for days after you hear them. This CD is an absolute MUST BUY for us Baby Boomers who grew up with Neil Diamond, but also anyone younger who wants to listen to truly GOOD music!!

THIS IS THE SECOND EDITION OF A NEW NEIL DIAMOND ERA. DIAMOND SOUNDS GREAT AND SINGS FROM THE HEART."IF I DON'T SEE YOU AGAIN" IS MY FAVORITE SONG.
