Celtic Treasure

This is by far the best Hayley Westenra CD. The choice of songs is incredible. Most of the songs are traditional, some of my favorites are Let Me LieScarborough Fair, Shenandoah, Danny Boy, Last Rose of Summer, The Water is Wide and Abide With Me. Summer Fly seems to be out of place on this CD since it sounds more like a country western song, but other than that she sticks to traditional/classical songs and it is amazing. I would recommend this CD to any fan of celtic music, traditional/classical songs or anyone who likes good music.

I couldn't give it 5 stars for one reason only, I loved every song on it except One Fine Day. In my opinion, no one under 35 should attempt that song (aria). Hayley has a fantastic voice but the song was way too big for her. The good news is that eventually she'll grow into it. On the plus side (and there is plenty of those) her renditions of Shenadoah and Scarborough Fair were fantastic. She's big now and will get even bigger.

We first encountered Westenra as a member of the Celtic Woman group. She was great -- as were all the girls. Based on that, I selected this CD after reading the reviews on Amazon. This one seemed to get the best overall reviews.

This CD is pretty uninspired and Westenra's voice sounds just average on several of the tracks. There are a few impressive spots but generally I thought the CD was less than expected.

Hayley does a great job with this cd. Its relaxing and interesting, instead of boring like some opera kind of vocalists can be. I recommend her cd, Pure, as well. She will definitely impress and soothe you!

If you could hear the angels singing this is exactly what they would sound like. Please do yourself a favor and get the dvd too. They are both beyond amazing.
